A delivery note accompanies a shipment and lists the goods and quantities being delivered. The recipient checks the delivery against it and signs to confirm receipt - a signed delivery note is your proof of delivery. It's also called a dispatch note or goods received note, and unlike an invoice it doesn't show prices or request payment.
For the full guide - what a delivery note is for, how it differs from an invoice and a packing list, and every field it should include - see our main delivery note template guide. This page is about creating one in Word.
Download the Word template above and open it in Microsoft Word (or upload to Google Docs / open in Pages).
Add your details and the recipient's delivery address.
Enter a unique delivery note number and the issue and delivery dates.
Reference the related order or invoice number so the delivery can be matched.
List the goods being delivered with their quantities - no prices needed. A delivery note records what was sent, not what's owed.
Keep the signature line so the recipient can sign for the goods.
Print two copies to send with the shipment (the recipient signs one and returns it as proof of delivery), or save as PDF (File → Save As → PDF) to email ahead.
Word - best for a clean delivery note you'll print and have signed on delivery.

PDF - best for emailing a fixed copy ahead of the delivery.
Always include the signature line - a signed delivery note is your proof the goods were received.
Reference the order or invoice number so the delivery can be matched to the right sale.
Number your delivery notes sequentially - Word won't do this for you, so keep a running log (or let Billdu number them automatically).
Print two copies - send both, and keep the signed one for your records.
Add your logo so your paperwork is instantly recognisable on the doorstep.

Yes. Upload the .docx to Google Docs or open it in Apple Pages - the layout is preserved.
A Word file can't number your delivery notes, match them to an order, or keep a record of what's been delivered. Billdu creates delivery notes in a couple of taps, numbers them for you, and stores every one against the order it belongs to - so you always have proof of what went out and when.
